TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES - Analytical Tools and Protective Design Methods
Hinman uses dynamic structural analysis tools ranging from lumped mass and energy methods to advanced continuum and finite element models. We evaluate the level of analytical complexity required for each project and confer with the client to determine the most appropriate methodology and staffing to meet protective and budgetary needs.
Our analytical tools include in-house, proprietary computer models and selected government-sponsored software packages for evaluating the response of structures to explosions and the potential for progressive collapse.
Blast Analysis Modules (in-house proprietary code) Our in-house software, BAM, includes approximately 100 modules used to determine explosion parameters and the resulting structural behavior. BAM employs a wide variety of analytical techniques to predict structural damage and injury levels. Our results are summarized in three-dimensional models that are easily understood by technical and non-technical clients alike. In addition to BAM, we use the following publicly available software:
