Nick grew up with a love and aptitude for math and science and a strong desire for knowledge and understanding that drives him to this day.  His love for bridges and high-rise buildings led him to pursue graduate studies in the field of structural engineering where he earned a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials, from the University of California at Berkeley in 2000.


Nick joined Hinman’s East Coast management team in 2009, bringing 9 years of varied experience to the firm.  Prior to joining Hinman, he performed high-rise building design and seismic analysis  while working for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, LLP,; provided forensic structural failure analysis for clients in the insurance and legal industries; and worked as a program manager, developing and managing structural inspection and safety programs for the west coast campus of a Fortune 100 company.


Since joining Hinman, Nick has been providing blast consulting services for numerous client types, including VA, GSA, DoD, and DoS.  His experience in the development of perimeter defense design and blast mitigation solutions includes: performance of site surveys, assessment reports, construction contract documents and construction administration.  System design experience includes blast mitigation and retrofit of existing structures, progressive collapse analysis of new and existing buildings, blast effects design for new construction and passive/active vehicle denial systems.
